Ebbs and Flows is a common saying when applying to life, the idea that life comes in the good and bad.
The left side of the painting displays this harmonious, beautiful collage of colours that blend together effortlessly. But on the right we see this broken, mismatched mess of colours that all drip down the canvas.
Utilizing techniques with the painting knife and water to make the paint fall and drip down the canvas to blending the colours seamlessly to create a full bodied, dramatic display.
This painting has the ability to make the viewer possibly feel a little lost or disappointed or even a confused, all of these feelings are valid in experiencing the ebbs and flows of life, this painting may even reflect how people themselves deal with the ebbs and flows in their life depending on how the painting may make them feel.
This encapsulates the feeling that though everything may be harmonious at one stage it’s still very capable of becoming incoherent nothingness.
Similar to that of just everyday life.
