who are you is a piece that is meant to feel unfinished.
Inspired by existentialism, who are you is a painting using acrylic paints and torn pieces of canvas just glued onto the painting.
Using a series of blending techniques, achieving a beautiful colourful background was important as humans are not 2 dimensional beings, we have many hues of colours and shades mixed together to make us who we are.
But who are you is asking the viewer that exact question. Majority of people go their whole lives never actually knowing who they really are and are content.
This painting wants the viewer to feel unfinished, as though they never seen all of themselves yet, and possibly never will.
The old saying that ‘eyes are the window to the soul’ suggests that peoples’ eyes can reveal a lot about their soul. Hence in this painting the blur over the eye portion of the face wants to communicate both of these ideas go hand and hand.
Your soul may be who you are, but who are you?
